An interactive, hands-on approach to learning – life skills not taught in school – extreme hoola hooping, circus skills, miming, juggling, break dancing, intricate beading work, creative crafts – hundreds of kids with new skills thanks to the Canmore Children’s Festival!

Circus Acrobat Workshop with High Strung
11am, Atco Tent and 2 pm, RE/MAX Tent (60 min – Ages 7 to 12)

A true family 3-ring circus is what you have always dreamed of …you will try things you never imagined trying, achieve things you didn’t expect to achieve, and learn things that you will never forget. If you are 7 years or older and have 60 minutes to spare this is the place for you.

Friends of Kananaskis – Nature Abounds
11 am and 1 pm RE/MAX Tent (45 min – All ages)

Make a natural choice for action-packed fun. Enjoy hands-on games and activities to celebrate spring in the Bow Valley.

Swashbuckling for Sprogs
Noon, ReMax Tent (90 min, 8 to 12. Not for the lily-livered. No squiffies or drivel swiggers allowed.)

Ahoy me hardy mates lend me your ear. Larn the sweet trade of piracy from Captain Marty Avery and crew. All ye landlubbers be thar te find your sea faring legs. Right ready for pirateering we’ll be makin’ ye.

Larn sword fightin’ proper like, how to be lashin’ a scurvy dog to the mizzin mast real tight like, boarding of a swaggy stealthy and sly, escaping a dagger te yer neck, and dividing up the booty. Yer chance be now to larn how to be a right proper Lass or Gentleman of Fortune! Arms we have enough for those who are brave and bold! Yer weapons you’ll be leavin’ at the door. If you have lost your direction. This workshop is a good place for a pirate to start in order to find treasure.

Extremely Hooped Hoola Hooping
1:30 pm, Atco Tent (90 min – All ages)

Holy Hoopla! How many hoops can a person spin at one time? Find out in this Interactive-One-Of-A-Kind Experience! Annie Dugan is today’s foremost practitioner of the dangerous art of Extreme Hula-Hooping! Yes – she can hoop around her waist while dancing! Yes – she can hula hoop on one leg! Yes - she can spin multiple hoops in multiple places at the same time! Can you? You'll be doing tricks in no time!

Juggling with the Checkerboard Guy
3 pm, Atco Tent (90 min – Ages 6+)

Learn how to juggle. From zero to three balls in 90 min. That’s some acceleration in your talent!

Native Beading with the Hunt Family
3 pm, classroom studio downstairs (60 min – Ages 8+)

The Plains Indians have created very colourful and beautiful beadwork to adorn many items including clothing, tools and artwork. Beading was originally done using quills dyed with berry juice. Today, learn the ways of their forefathers.
